Alan Pardew v David Moyes
Who's achievements stand up the best?

Fa cup final a promotion & ninth place in Pl in 3 years versus
Europa cup semi 6th & 7th place in PL

Prior to Tevez & Mascherano arriving Pardew had a somewhat weaker squad and less resources than Moyes although Dean Ashton was one exception and would walk into the current side.

Two very different characters and both flawed in there own way.

Pards lost the dressing room the little Icelandic fella said. Sure NRC was the main shit stirrer. For sure there were 2 camps emerging.

If you do look at Pard's record he does seem to have one good season and then subsequently a shocker.

Most will go moyes but I’ve said before, my first manager was Redknapp really, I caught the back end of Bonds but the one I remember is Redknapp onwards. In all the years supporting west ham Pardew gave me my most favourite season.

That 05/06 season trumps the 2 moyes served up. The football was excellent, god knows how many times we went behind but to come back & win the game. Highbury away, amazing, yids away Anton last min then to do em at home. For that one season it was such a likeable side. So many good away days that season.

Pocket Pards on the desktop was much better than Mobile Moyes from the App Store

Different times I guess

Dean Ashton was a tremendous loss.
Think he could've been a club legend.

Manny... yeah some brilliant days under H ... but just for me the three finals in three years were extra special... and Cardiff was something else... just brilliant days out

Pardews teams were better to watch . Even though he had inferior players by and large. Moyes good spell lasted longer than pardews . but no one sucks the enjoyment out of football quite like the moyesiah which is some statement given we've had fat Sam and cautiously in charge in recent times .

Much more personality in that team than todays lot.

I quite enjoyed the style of football under Pards. Plus Pards himself was such a cunt, if he was chocolate he’d eat himself and I like narcissistic people like that, I find them interstesting.

Moyes is like a blank sheet of paper.

The 2005-2006 season will always be may favourite after 85-86. The highlight being the 2-3 win at Highbury. As alreqady mentioned there are similarities n that Pards intially had problem interagting the new "stars". Of course loosing Ashton to that long term injury didn't help.

Even though our form dropped off after Jan last season was probably my 4th favourite with the Europa League stuff.

Third favourite the Bilic 2015-2016 season.

Re: Alan Pardew v David Moyes
NS, obviously we can make excuses for your views because you never go to games but let’s scotch this myth about Moyes and the goals we have scored. We have dried up this season but in the previous two we were the fifth highest league goal scorers over the season. Not too bad really and last season we even outscored ManU.

Apart from the great times under Johnny Lyall… my other fav time was going to every round in the Pards Cup run… that and three finals in three years…. Just brilliant times…. Oh and the football was far far more entertaining than the ultra defensive… lets nick a goal from a corner stuff served up by the Jock…

Re: Alan Pardew v David Moyes
There is some basis of comparison. Both did relatively well buying players out of the Championship and integrating them into a PL side. Ashton, Gabbidon and Collins for Pardew, the ones Moyes took to Everton along with Bowen as an example with us (maybe best not to mention Hugill though).

Also an argument to say that both struggle with high profile players. Pardew didn't have a clue what to do with Tevez and Mascherano. And it can be seen that Moyes wasn't able to get the players onside at Man Utd at all during his time there. Here he is really struggling to integrate Paqueta and Scammaca, established internationals who are reckoned to be world class by some pundits.

Seems both have a natural ceiling and when expectation is that they push beyond that they struggle to adapt outside their comfort zone.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.

Pards was relieved of his duties and is still well regarded around these parts for the cup run and decent season.

Likewise if Moyes goes early enough and another manager stabalises us we'll look back on his reign with fond memories.

What is looking increasingly unlikely is some sort of Moyes revival at this point.

Even in 20 or so years the game has changed so much it’s almost impossible to meaningfully compare.

They both have some big ticks and big crosses against their names.

It’s Moyes eot, purely because he’s changed all those negative cultures around the club like he promised….

Re: Alan Pardew v David Moyes
Both Bilic and Pellegrini were relieved of their duties because the owners felt that keeping faith with them would probably lead to relegation.

The owners are not afraid to act after learning a costly lesson by mistakenly keeping hold of Avram Grant. Under their stewardship we have been where we are now on three previous occasions so where do they go from here? Twice in the past they have turned to Moyes to steady the ship and it has worked out for them. The fact is that when they stayed loyal to a manager, Grant, we went down and when they made a change we survived. For that reason I think that the owners will bring someone new in.
